Mr Jones

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the very sad news that Mr Geraint Wyn Jones passed away early yesterday morning, following a period of illness.

Mr Jones was the headteacher at Ysgol Llanllyfni for almost a quarter of a century – quite an achievement. Over the decades, he made a positive impact on hundreds of pupils and on the wider community. He always put the children and staff of the school first, and supported everyone under his care.

No doubt many of you will be sharing and reflecting on your memories of Mr Jones over the coming days. He was someone who loved telling stories and was always keen to hear other people’s tales. He never let the truth get in the way of a good story either – his tales of being a ‘secret agent, 007’ were always a firm favourite with the children!

There will certainly be opportunities for us to remember the good times in the midst of this sadness. I, along with all the staff who had the privilege of working with him, will remember the fun, the friendship and the laughter above all else.

We will be arranging ways for the pupils to express their condolences and will consider how best to commemorate Mr Jones’s dedication in a fitting and respectful way over the coming weeks.

The Friends’ Auction Evening will be rescheduled out of respect for Mr Jones’s family and those close to him.

As a school community, we send our deepest condolences to all of his family – especially to his wife, Shân, and his children, Anna, Cadi and Math.

Talented footballer, passionate Liverpool supporter, proud Welshman, teacher, leader, friend, husband, father – Ger Siop.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Peter Bridges

Headteacher, Ysgol Llanllyfni
